NEOSHO YOUTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM INC

Wildcat Pride

Neosho Youth Volunteer Program Inc is a registered nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) federal tax exemption. It was created to improve the lives of our youth and our community by bringing them together in a positive way. We hope to strengthen core values and to bring a sense of responsibility and integrity to our youth. The goal of this program is to help detour negative behavior like bullying by making our youth feel more responsible for their own actions and stick up for their peers. In return for their efforts they will be rewarded with things such as special events, coupons/discounts, awards, public recognition and more!

HOW IT WORKS

Please follow our Facebook page for up to date information

Parents must sign a liability waiver prior to youth volunteering. Liability waivers can be picked up and dropped off at the following locations in Neosho: YMCA, City Hall, Chamber of Commerce and Price Cutter. Liability waivers can also be printed off here and brought to any of the four locations, (please see "Liability waiver" button on last page). Open to ages ranging from 2nd grade to 12th grade, (not all activities will be for all ages). When volunteers are needed we will post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.  For group activities we will describe the location, details of work, expected end time and other information needed. Parents decide which activities to allow their child to participate. Parents are responsible for transportation and we highly encourage carpooling. An adult volunteer/chaperone will be on location (unless otherwise stated) but only to coordinate efforts so parents should not leave young children as we will not be staffed to watch them individually. Youth will be given necessary equipment like gloves and trash-bags along with water and sometimes snacks will be provided (if your child has food allergies please let us know). Beyond group activities, youth are encouraged (with parents permission) to help clean up their own street or neighborhood or help an elderly/disabled neighbor.

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteer services will vary but will include activities such as trash pick-up, flower planting, painting, yard work etc. We will service areas like parks, schools, businesses and neighborhoods.  We will also spend times doing activities at the senior center and nursing homes. Parents are encouraged to have youth help elderly/disabled neighbors mow, shovel snow etc or clean up their own neighborhood (like after the trash runs).  Just send a message or photo to us via text/email so that we can give youth credit! Pictures can be also be posted on NYVP Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or Instagram. Parents please tell youth to never publicly post details of their current location while volunteering and never post pictures that could reveal their address.

CEO,

Tandy Bressler

I am a mother of four, my eldest attends college out of state and I have three children that attend school here in Neosho. I am a wrestling mom, soccer mom and beginning this fall I will be a football mom. I am a realtor with ReeceNichols Real Estate. I volunteer my time with a few different non profit organizations and recently I started the Neosho Youth Volunteer Program (NYVP). As a mom I know how important it is to keep our children focused and involved. The focus of NYVP is to be a positive influence in the lives of Neosho Youth and help them make a positive impact in their community.
